⭐ BEACH LIVING PICKS
A look back at what caught our attention last weekend
🏄 Wavemasters Surf Contest
Surf. Sand. Community. That’s a pretty good Beaches Saturday.

Last weekend, I headed down to the beach for the Wavemasters Surf Contest, presented by Sunrise Surf Shop and other local supporters.
There was plenty of competition in the water, but what stood out to me was the energy on the beach—surfers, families, spectators and local businesses all coming together around something that feels so distinctly Beaches.
This is one of the things I love about living in this community. You don’t have to go far to find something happening, and sometimes the best way to experience it is simply to grab your beach chair and go.

Beach Living Pick: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our take: A great reminder that surfing isn’t just a sport here—it’s part of the culture.
🧇 Pokémon Pop-Up at Aloha Waffle Bar
Waffles, Pokémon and a whole lot of fun.

The Pokémon Pop-Up at Aloha Waffle Bar was another fun local discovery last weekend, bringing together six vendors with trading cards, collectibles and plushies.
It was the kind of event that makes us excited about what local businesses are doing right here in our own community. Aloha Waffle Bar created a reason for people to come together, browse, trade, eat, hang out and have some fun.
And let’s be honest…
Pokémon + waffles = a pretty good Saturday. 🧇⚡

Beach Living Pick: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Our take: Keep an eye on local businesses that create their own events. You never know what you’ll discover.

🏖️ BEACHES HISTORY
A little piece of local history you may not know.
Did You Know?
Jacksonville Beach used to be called Pablo Beach.
Before it became Jacksonville Beach, this community was known as Pablo Beach.
Pablo Beach was incorporated in 1907 and was renamed Jacksonville Beach in 1925. But here’s the part that makes the history especially fun:
The beach was once used for automobile racing. 🏎️🌊
Imagine today’s Jacksonville Beach—with the pier, surfers and people walking along the shoreline—but instead of watching surfers, you’re watching automobiles racing across the hard-packed sand.
The Beaches have always been a place for adventure.
🌊 DISCOVER WHAT’S HAPPENING
There’s always something happening at the Beaches.
From local businesses and live music to markets, community events, hidden gems and unexpected experiences, Beach Living 904 is here to help you discover what’s happening around the Beaches.
And if you know about something happening that should be on our calendar:
📍 WHERE ARE WE? — THE ANSWER
Mind Bender Escape Rooms!
You were looking at Mind Bender Escape Rooms, home of the Parvus Box Free Roam Reality Experience.
And yes… that’s me giving it a try! 😂
It’s just one more example of the kind of local experience we’re looking to uncover and share through Beach Living 904.
Consider this your sign to go discover something new.
🌴 SEE YOU NEXT THURSDAY
Thanks for being here at the beginning.
Until next week, get out there, support local and discover something new around the Beaches.
